A Partridge in a Pear Tree
For the record, Ancient Persia was a major centre for pear cultivation...Although we're stretching the theme, eve is pleased to work with London's LS10 Gallery which has a strong focus on Iranian photographers. Here we feature a stunning work from 2011 by Ebrahim Noroozi entitled Mourners, VI.
Two Turtle Doves
The tanned tenderness of A Couple Embrace (1986) sets the scene for a different kind of Xmas.
The Australian photographer Tony Potts is known for his B&W nudes, his fashion photography from the 80's + 90's and his series on Sydney’s Bondi Beach — an important timestamp on the beach culture that has remained quintessential to Australian life.
Like many of the works offered by Lightworks, it's a statement piece for whitewashed walls + open spaces.
Three French Hens
Some say Xmas is mostly for the children.
In her Art of Pista series, Romanian/ Hungarian artist Kincső Bede draws primarily on personal experiences...
...in particular on the complicated and conflict-filled relationship between her grandparents.
Presented by Budapest's TOBE Gallery, here we find our trio in Grandchildren (2022).
Also available on eve is Kincső's photobook Porcelain + Wool, newly published by hECTIC bOOKS.
Four Calling Birds
Over in Detroit, The MF Gallery offers gems of documentary photography. Through poignant photo essays, husband + wife duo Saul Bromberger + Sandra Hoover have been documenting American life since forever.
This image Concert Goers Pleading to be Showered with a Water Hose (1982) captures the perennial call of California.
Five Gold Rings
Dutch photographer Luuk de Haan brings the bling to Xmas, c/o Lightworks.
With addingtoone 5 (2017) Luuk works with the mediums of photography, drawing and digital tools.
He creates extraordinary organic, geometric and characteristically abstract compositions.
Textured and tapestry-like, this work is a constant surprise.
Six Geese a-Laying
Once seen, the dream-like style of Catalan photographer Jaume Llorens Bach can't be forgotten.
Crane Kalman Brighton features this limited edition print entitled Gaia 45 in eve's Xmas parade.
This image is part of an award-winning series of diptychs featuring birdlife + landscapes from the artist's hometown of Banyoles, north-east of Barcelona.
